Payments are processed by LawPay; we never receive or store your full card number. Any processing/convenience fee is as disclosed in your engagement agreement. Making a payment does not by itself create an attorney-client relationship. Unearned fees are refundable; questions: (708) 722-2222.
Enter the invoice number or the matter name in the reference field on the LawPay page so the payment is applied to the right matter. LawPay emails you a receipt; keep it with your engagement documents. The engagement agreement you signed states the basis of the fee and whether a card processing fee applies, and the FAQ page explains how fees are set and how a deposit is applied as work is done.
If your engagement agreement says a payment is an advance deposit to be held in the firm's client trust account (IOLTA) rather than a payment of an invoice, do not use the invoice link. When in doubt, call before paying so the funds land in the right account; the agreement says which kind of payment each one is, and the unearned part of a deposit is returned to you when the matter ends.
