Terms of Use
The rules for using this website. Your engagement agreement, if you become a client, controls over anything here.
Acceptance
These Terms of Use govern your use of www.khatiblaw.com, operated by Khatib Law LLC, 6600 W College Dr, Ste 207, Palos Heights, IL 60463. By using the site you agree to these Terms, to our Privacy Policy and to our Disclaimer. If you do not agree, do not use the site. If you become a client, your engagement agreement controls over anything here that conflicts with it.
Who may use the site
The site is intended for adults. You may use it only for lawful purposes and only to learn about the firm, read its content, contact it, or make a payment through the linked payment page.
What you may not do
You may not:
- copy, scrape, crawl or harvest content or contact details other than through ordinary search-engine indexing;
- submit the contact form with false information, on someone else's behalf without authority, or in bulk;
- attempt to interfere with the site, its hosting or its form delivery;
- probe or test its security without written permission;
- use the site to send unsolicited messages or to impersonate the firm.
No legal advice; no attorney-client relationship
The site provides general information, not legal, tax or accounting advice. Using the site, sending a message or making a payment does not create an attorney-client relationship, which arises only from a signed engagement agreement after a conflicts check. The Disclaimer explains this in full and is part of these Terms.
Your submissions
Please do not send confidential information through the site until the firm has confirmed an engagement in writing. The firm is not obliged to respond to any submission. If you send comments or suggestions about the site itself, you grant the firm a non-exclusive, perpetual, royalty-free right to use them without compensation or attribution. This paragraph does not apply to information you provide as a client, which is governed by your engagement agreement and the rules of professional conduct.
Intellectual property
The text, articles, graphics, logo and arrangement of this site are owned by Khatib Law LLC and protected by copyright and trademark law. You may read, print and share links to pages for personal, non-commercial use. You may not republish, sell or create derivative works from the content without written permission. The BBB name and seal, the Google name, the LawPay name and other third-party names and marks belong to their owners and appear here with permission or under their published terms.
Third-party links and tools
The site links to third-party sites and services, including the LawPay payment pages, Google Maps, the Illinois General Assembly, Cook County offices, and the website and tools of our sister company Cook County Tax Appeals LLC. Those sites are governed by their own terms and privacy policies. The firm does not control them and is not responsible for their content, availability or accuracy. Property tax figures produced by any calculator we link to are estimates only.
No warranties
The site is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, the firm disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. The firm does not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, error-free or free of harmful components.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Khatib Law LLC and its attorney and staff are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential or punitive damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the site or its content, and the firm's total liability for any claim relating to the site is limited to one hundred dollars.
Two things this section does not do. It does not limit the firm's liability to its clients for legal services, which is governed by the engagement agreement and the Illinois Rules of Professional Conduct; the firm does not ask any client to agree in advance to limit its liability for malpractice. And nothing in these Terms limits anyone's right to file or pursue a complaint with the Illinois Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission.
Governing law and venue
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute about the site or these Terms will be brought in the state or federal courts sitting in Cook County, Illinois, and you consent to their jurisdiction.
Severability and changes
If any part of these Terms is held unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. The firm may change these Terms by posting a revised version with a new date; your continued use after that date is acceptance of the change.
Accessibility and privacy
Our commitment to an accessible site, and how to report a barrier, is in our Accessibility statement. How we handle personal information is in our Privacy Policy.
